The Indian men’s hockey team extended their unbeaten streak during their tour of South Africa, securing a convincing 3-0 victory against the hosts. Captain Harmanpreet Singh (2nd minute), Abhishek (13th minute), and Sumit (30th minute) were the scorers for India during the match on Friday night.
India began the game with a strong attacking presence, earning an early penalty corner which Harmanpreet expertly converted with a powerful drag flick to take the lead. Shortly before the end of the first quarter, Abhishek capitalized on an attacking move to score, doubling India’s advantage.
Despite South Africa’s attempts to mount attacks in the second quarter, India’s defense remained resolute, preserving their clean sheet. Just before halftime, Sumit added another field goal, giving India a comfortable 3-0 lead.
In the second half, South Africa showed urgency but struggled to breach India’s defense. The third quarter was tense with action on both ends, but neither team managed to score.
In the final quarter, South Africa pressed for a goal, but India’s defense held firm, preventing any breakthroughs. India’s next match is against the Netherlands on Sunday.
